  • 1/4 yellow onion chopped
  • 1/4 green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp season salt
  • 1/4 msg optional
Bread Crumb Mix
  • 3 cups panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp all purpose seasoning
Dipping Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp dill relish
  • 1/2 tbsp stone ground mustard
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp bbq sauce optional if you want a smokey flavor
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Method

Sauté the Veggies
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced bell pepper and onion. Cook 3–4 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
Cook the Steak
  1. Add thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Season with Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, season salt, and MSG (if using).
  2. Cook over medium-high heat until fully cooked and browned, about 4–6 minutes.
Melt the Cheese
  1. Reduce heat to low. Stir in shredded cheese and mix until fully melted and combined with the steak mixture.
Freeze the Filling
  1. Spread the mixture about ½-inch thick onto a parchment-lined tray. Freeze 1–2 hours, or until completely solid.
  2. Remove and cut into 9 rectangles.
Bread the Cheese Sticks
  1. Whisk eggs in one bowl.
  2. In another bowl, combine panko with paprika and all-purpose seasoning.
  3. Dip each rectangle into egg, then panko, back into egg, and into panko again for a thick coating.
Fry
  1. Heat oil to 350°F.
  2. Fry 2–3 minutes, turning as needed, until deep golden brown and heated through. Drain on a wire rack.
Make the Dipping Sauce
  1. Mix mayo, ketchup, dill relish, stone ground mustard, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  2. Serve with warm mozzarella sticks.
