Ingredients

Ingredients Used
  • 1 croissant bread loaf
  • custard recipe below
  • cinnamon butter recipe below
Custard
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup coffee creamer I prefer Chobani Hazelnut
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Cinnamon Butter
  • 4 tbsp salted butter softened
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Method

Make the cinnamon butter
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Set aside.
Prepare the custard
  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, coffee creamer, maple syrup, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla until fully combined.
Slice & cut the bread (This step is optional)
  1. Slice the croissant loaf, then cut the bread into even-sized squares.
Add the cinnamon butter
  1. Spread cinnamon butter on one square of bread and top with another square to make little French toast “sandwiches.”
Coat in custard
  1. Dip each square sandwich into the custard, letting it soak briefly on all sides.
Cook
  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter. Cook until golden brown on all sides, flipping as needed.
Serve
  1. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fruit.

Notes

Secret ingredient: the flavored coffee creamer in the custard. I used hazelnut, but customize it with any flavor you like to enhance the French toast.
